It’s hard to believe summer is officially winding down and Labor Day weekend is already here. But here we are!

I’ve been wondering: What are the rules about wearing white these days? It used to be that you weren’t supposed to wear white after Labor Day. I’ve been sporting my comfy white sneakers all summer. Am I supposed to put those away after this weekend? I don’t know anymore.

Here are three more important things to ponder heading into your holiday weekend.

1. Night of Worship was a powerful kingdom moment!
It was one of the most meaningful worship experiences we’ve shared as a church recently. If you were there, you know what I’m talking about. I’ve heard from so many people this week who were deeply moved by the evening.

Experiences like that are hard to put into words. Tom had a wonderful vision for the service, and he and the worship team served our church so well. We’re already praying about how we might create more opportunities like it in the future. Lifting up the name of Jesus, focusing our attention on Him, and simply enjoying His presence together—what a night!

2. Our Beds of Hope bed build is this Monday.
I hope you’ll carve out a few hours to help us build at least 20 beds. Right now, more than 30 children are on our waiting list. Let’s do what we can to meet that need and share the love and ministry of Christ with these families.

3. Our Hebrews Bible Study begins this Sunday.
Our congregation has really enjoyed the Wesley Bible Curriculum over the past year, and this fall we’ll spend 12 weeks studying the book of Hebrews together.

We’re also planning a couple of special events connected to this church-wide study, and in a few weeks I’ll begin a sermon series from Hebrews centered around the theme “Christ Is Better.” Together, we’ll immerse ourselves in this powerful book and discover again the greatness and sufficiency of Jesus. I can’t wait to share this journey with you this fall.

I hope to see you Sunday as we continue our BLESS series with the fourth missional practice: “Serve with Care.”
