A Word From Our Pastor…

Happy Thursday, everybody! Here are three things for you heading into an amazing weekend!

1. Our church is moving “Forward by Faith.” November is vision and stewardship month at CMC. Our theme for this year is “Forward by Faith.” This season is vital to the coming year’s ministry objectives for a number of reasons. First and foremost, it gives us an opportunity to celebrate together how we furthered our mission of connecting people to Jesus. During this month, we will certainly tell this story of how we are helping people connect to Christ and grow in their faith. God has blessed us richly during 2025!

Another important aspect of vision and stewardship month is sharing with you our ministry funding plan for 2026 and encouraging everyone to participate in some way. Our pledge campaign is a very significant way we encourage participation. Starting next week, we will mail out information to everyone in the CMC family sharing our vision for 2026 and asking families to prayerfully make a pledge of their gifts and service in support of that vision.

The next vital step in sharing this information is our annual Leadership Dinner. The Stewardship Committee under the leadership of Robert Penn met this past Sunday to put together the agenda for this dinner. It will be held Thursday, November 13th, at 6:00 p.m. in the Family Life Building, and several members of our leadership team will share stories of celebration and a message to challenge our church to continue moving “Forward in Faith.” Letters and invitations to church leaders have been sent this week.

2. A new sermon series starts this Sunday – “Sow Generously; Reap Abundantly.” I can’t wait to teach on the Biblical topic of generosity this month. This series will unpack Paul’s teaching in 2 Corinthians 8-9. Paul invites Christians to a life of generosity which unites us together in a common mission and way of life. Meanwhile, the message of generosity has an enemy that lurks beneath the surface of our heart. What is that enemy? Sunday we will reveal this enemy and how we conquer this ancient enemy to find the freedom to live a life of contentment and generosity. The Word of God shows us what God has promised and the power that’s available to us to live with freedom and purpose.

3. Something for everyone! There are a lot of activities happening this weekend around our church. The youth group will be on their fall retreat at Timber Creek. Pray for them that the weekend will bring needed rest and recreation and spiritual growth. The Men’s Club will be serving Red Beans and Rice this Sunday following worship from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Family Life Building. You can purchase tickets the day of the event if you haven’t done so already. Finally, Tom and area worship leaders and musicians will be bringing a special throwback night of worship on Sunday evening in the Worship Center at 6:00 p.m. Music will feature some of the old gospel classics that we grew up listening to and singing. This is going to be an awesome night! Rev. Steve Casteel, former pastor at CMC, will be the MC for the evening.

Can’t wait to see you around this weekend!

Jimmy
