This past Sunday was an amazing kickoff to the new school year! We had such a great time in worship and fellowship. Thanks to everyone who volunteered and participated to make this year’s Back to School Bash the best.

It’s going to be another great week at Clinton Methodist Church. Here’s why…These next few weeks are all about taking the next step together—worshipping together, learning together, and serving together.

1. Wednesday Nights start back on August 5th!

We’re kicking off the semester with a fun night of food and fellowship. To give our Wednesday night kitchen crew a well-deserved break, our staff will be serving a variety of pizza from restaurants around Clinton. Bring a dollar or two and cast your vote for your favorite pizza! Every dollar donated will go to our Wednesday Night Fund, which helps provide meals for our shut-ins and college students.

And don’t leave too early—we’ll finish the evening with a variety of homemade ice cream and all the toppings. Thanks to the generosity of our church family, the food has been donated, so dinner and dessert are free on this first Wednesday night together.

We will be kicking off a churchwide study next week as well on our theme for the school year – “Be a friend. Be a blessing.” This study is based on Dave and Jon Ferguson’s book, B.L.E.S.S.: Five Everyday Ways to Love Your Neighbor and Change the World. We will learn how to take seriously Jesus’ command in Mark 12:30-31…

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

We spend a lot of time talking about loving God—as we should. But Jesus also commands us to love our neighbors. The question is: What does that actually look like in everyday life? The BLESS strategy gives us five simple, practical ways to love our neighbors and become the kind of friends Jesus calls us to be.

2. Beds of Hope has two build days coming soon.

You guys are doing amazing ministry, getting kids in their own beds, uplifting spirits, and bringing a lot of joy. Every bed we build is more than a piece of furniture. It is a tangible expression of the love of Christ. As our mission says, “Give a bed today. Give a child hope for tomorrow.” Every bed you help build brings hope into a home and reflects the kingdom of God in a practical way.

Our build dates will be this Saturday, August 1st, and Labor Day, September 7th. You can find out more information below and click the link to volunteer for a build team.

I can’t wait to worship with you this Sunday!

Jimmy
