A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR…
I hope the rains don’t dodge Clinton this weekend. We need it, but I hope we have some cooler temps and sunshine for the later part of our Labor Day weekend. Here are a few tidbits for you.
1. College football is in full motion this weekend! Ladies, if you want to throw your fellas a curve ball, why not encourage them to take a break and watch a game sometime on Saturday or Sunday (after church obviously). I know that not everyone gets into college football. For those guys, you can always suggest they do the laundry. I am going to see if my wife reads this and follows my advice.
2. Serve somewhere. We just finished up our Dig In series this past Wednesday night. It was an awesome three weeks, and I am hearing some very inspiring stories from people who attended. One common outcome has been more people in our church moving from being a guest to a host. What I mean is expressing a desire to serve others. I want to encourage everyone to move from receiving to giving back. Do it to welcome and serve others. Do it to fill the needs that exist. But you will find a greater blessing when you do it for yourself and your own walk with Jesus. Everything is better (especially our church) when it is no longer about us. Click here to learn more.
3. “The Day a Quitter Got Back in the Game”
This week in the series “A Day in the Life,” we will survey the New Testament for what we can learn about a rather obscure character – John Mark. Mark walked away from ministry. Years later, Paul asked for him by name. We will talk about the God who is not done writing your story either.
See you Sunday.
Jimmy
