A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR…
Hello beautiful people! What is giving you life right now? Sometimes the thing giving us life is in the future. Let me explain. Maybe you are looking forward to the birth of a grandchild. It might be moving into a new house with a pool. There may be a trip on the horizon to an enchanted destination. I call these looking-forward-to-it-moments a “lily pad.”
There is a lily pad in my future. Debbie and I will be traveling to England in September with Rev. Bob Rambo to do a Wesley heritage tour. Excitement is building every week as our departure gets closer. Lily pads are like stepping-stones across a pond. These moments break life into reachable stretches. We can say, “I just need to make it to that lily pad” instead of “I have to swim the whole pond right now.” Knowing there’s something good ahead—whether it’s a trip, a gathering, or even a date night—changes how we approach the challenges of today.
These lily pads out in the future can give us life in the present. I hope you have something good on your horizon. If you don’t, I encourage you to plan one. It doesn’t have to be something big. It’s a bit like having a warm light in the distance—you’re not there yet, but it makes walking in the cold right now easier.
New series coming Sunday. “A Day in the Life: Ordinary moments. Real struggles. Everyday faith.”
What if one ordinary day could change everything? In this series, we’ll step into a day in the life of four people from the Bible — people who faced stress, pressure, failure, and fear — and discover how everyday faith can turn an ordinary day into a God moment.
Week 1 – “The Day That Wouldn’t Slow Down” (Martha/Mary)
Scripture Reference: Luke 10:38–42
Ever have a day so full that you miss the most important thing? Martha did — and Jesus shows her (and us) how to choose what matters most.
Hope to see you Sunday!
Jimmy
