This Sunday our Sanctuary Choir will present their annual Palm Sunday music program. There will be one combined worship service in the sanctuary at 11:00 a.m. It is our hope that you will experience the presence of the Holy Spirit through this music and narration as we enter Holy Week in preparation for Easter Sunday morning. Bring a friend to church with you and we hope to see you there!
Happy Spring everyone! Here are a few things for you heading into a very special weekend and Holy Week…
1. One service this Sunday at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary. I hope you will help us pack out the Sanctuary for our Palm Sunday musical program presented by our choir and guest orchestra. The children will be processing in with palms. It’s going to be an uplifting and worshipful start to Holy Week. Sunday school will be at 10:00 a.m.
2. Holy Week will feature two unique services this year. Maundy Thursday, which takes its name from the Latin translation of “New Commandment,” features worship in the round in the Worship Center with Communion. It begins at 6:00 p.m. This will be an intimate setting for singing, prayer, and ends with a surprise! Good Friday service will be in the Sanctuary at 7:00 p.m. This year we will read through Jesus’ last words from the cross pausing for times of prayer and reflection. There will be a Lenten lunch on Tuesday with guest speaker Dr. Barry Male from Madison Methodist Church. There will be no Wednesday night meal or groups this week.
3. Worship One; Serve One. We still need a few more people to help us with greeting on Easter Sunday at all three services and the Eggstravaganza. Follow the instructions below to sign up to help. I want you to know that Easter is a great opportunity to invite someone to join you for worship. Most people who visit our church come at the personal invitation of someone. When they arrive, they decide within the first few minutes if they will come back. This is why going out of your way to make people feel welcomed is so important. Greeters, volunteers, staff, and everyone in the pews/chairs have a role to play in creating that warm and friendly environment. It takes all of us to help someone feel the love of Christ and be receptive to the message of the Gospel.
I can’t wait to see you Sunday!
Jimmy
