A Word From Our Pastor…

Hello beautiful people! I hope you have prepared for the possibility of inclement weather that appears to be rolling into our lives on Saturday and Sunday. We want to make you aware of our plans at church this weekend to keep you informed and safe.

1. We will communicate throughout the weekend regarding Sunday’s services. Please check your emails for updates. This will be our primary method of informing you about the schedule on Sunday. If the roads get icy and/or if we lose power, we will only offer our worship online and cancel in-person services. Our primary objective is to keep you safe at home and not risk danger traveling to the church. An abbreviated worship service will stream live on Facebook and YouTube and be available on demand on those same platforms. The message will also be available later in the day through the Apple Podcast app. Click below to access the service online.

2. Be a caring community this weekend. If you know of vulnerable church members, please check in on them to see if they need anything. No one ever gets upset receiving a phone call letting them know you care. It’s better to check in than to assume they are okay. If you know of someone that needs assistance, please call or email me at (662) 610-3509 or jimmy@cmc-clinton.org. We will have people on standby to offer help.

3. Be a guardian of the digital world to those you love. In The Connected Life: “Guardians of the Digital World,” we named an honest reality: with good intentions, our devices have slowly shaped our attention, identity, and joy—often without our noticing. I pointed us to John 8 and Nehemiah 4, where we’re reminded that this is a spiritual battle and that God calls us to stand guard at the vulnerable places of our homes and hearts, like faithful gatekeepers. Protecting what we love means intentionally choosing what comes in and what stays out—modeling healthy habits, setting wise boundaries, and keeping honest conversations open.

Following the service last Sunday, I spoke with someone who works every day in cybersecurity guarding their company from the bad actors lurking in the digital world. This person shared some helpful resources that you might like to consider in guarding your family from these online dangers.

4. Sunday is Consecration Sunday for new church leaders. If we can gather in person for worship this Sunday, I will introduce you to our church leadership team for 2026. This will include new and current people serving on our resourcing committees as well as our ministry teams. We will publish our 2026 Lay Leadership Report that includes all committee members and make this available for you to pick up. I am so very thankful for the over 100 members of our church that serve us on these teams!

Together, we are a church family diverse in our gifts and unified in our mission to connect people to Jesus. This will be our topic of conversation in our message this week. We will conclude The Connected Life series by looking at Romans 12 to learn more about what it means to “Find Real Community.”

I hope, really hope we avoid the frozen precipitation this weekend and everyone stays safe. Although a little snow might be nice for kiddos to enjoy! See you Sunday one way or another–online or in person!

Jimmy
