A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR…

I have three things to kickstart your weekend…

1. Get 1% better today! James Clear advocated this principle in his book Atomic Habits which came out a few years ago and promoted the Japanese philosophy of “Kaizen.” This principle emphasizes continuous improvement through small, incremental changes. Spring is a good time of year to put this principle into practice. Spruce up your flower beds with new plants. Clean out a closet…and donate the stuff to our garage sale! Read one chapter in a book that will challenge you to make a small change. Do something that will motivate and encourage you to be better today than you were yesterday.

2. Confirmation Sunday is a big deal. We have seven wonderful students that have engaged for the past several months in an intense exploration of faith. They have grown spiritually and relationally through the investments that have been made in their lives by our church staff and mentors. We celebrate their journey and their professions of faith this Sunday in both worship services. A reception welcoming our newest disciples will be from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the Family Life Building. Take a moment to pray for these students and their families. Those that are part of this year’s Confirmation Class include…

3. Worship One, Serve One! Easter Sunday will welcome our largest crowd of worshipers than any other Sunday of the year. We averaged about 500 in worship the past two years! Surveys of new church attenders reveal that the main factors in returning to a church were whether they felt welcomed and if people were friendly. We want to excel at welcoming new and regular attenders by showing extravagant hospitality to everyone. To do this I need your help. Will you consider attending one worship service with your family and serving during another one? We need greeters for our three services to serve at a welcome tent, open the door for people as they enter the buildings, and make people feel the warmth and love of Christ. There will be a special “training meeting” next Sunday, April 13th, at 12:30 p.m. to prepare you to serve. If you feel called to this ministry, email me or sign up using the card in the bulletin this Sunday.

See you Sunday!

Jimmy
