A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR…

May is full of celebrations and moments of gratitude. Graduations, end-of-the-year school banquets, baptisms, and many opportunities for family gatherings. As you already know, this Sunday is Mother’s Day. If you forgot, consider this your friendly reminder to purchase those cards and gifts before Sunday. We honor those special women with whom we share an inseparable bond. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

Here are three things for your weekend.

1. Worship is beautiful. I discovered a new music drop this week. OMG! This live set by Elevation Worship reminds me of worship at camp and Emmaus retreats. The splendor of nature, raw worship, Holy Presence – beautiful worship! Give it a listen here.
2. Mississippi Methodist Senior Services Offering. There will be a special offering received in both services on Sunday for the Sunday Fund. The Sunday Fund is a critical part of the Methodist Senior Services Ministry. It is a benevolent fund designed to assist elders living on MSS campuses across the state who have outlived their financial resources through no fault of their own. 100% of this offering goes directly to keeping elders in their MSS home, even if they run out of money to pay. This ministry of caring for the elderly in the spirit of Christian love is what sets MSS apart from typical senior living communities. I hope you will give generously to this offering. Please earmark your gift to the “Sunday Fund.” MSS and the Sunday Fund does not receive financial support from The United Methodist Church.

3. Created Human Series Continues. Last week we got off to a great start with our new sermon series. We established a foundational teaching within the Christian community regarding our human bodies. “Our bodies matter because they matter to God and have a story to tell.” What story do they tell? The Bible contains three stories that establish why our bodies matter: Creation, Incarnation, and Resurrection. This week we turn our focus on a key truth that sets humans apart from all other parts of creation. We will look at what it means to be God’s image in the world.

I hope to see you Sunday!

Jimmy
