A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR…

Here are three things for you to consider.

1. You deserve a treat! I like to treat myself to something special when I accomplish a task I’ve been putting off. Lately, I have found that treat to be a MangoFest smoothie from Smoothie King. If you like mangos, this is your go to for a tropical getaway in the middle of your day. They have lots of other treats to choose from as well, but be careful to read the ingredient list. You don’t want to load up on too much sugar or caffeine! Here’s another secret: download the app and order before you arrive so you can just walk in and pick it up with no wait time. You’re welcome!

2. What has the staff been up to this week? Wednesday, we spent the day at Eagle Ridge Conference Center in Raymond participating in a staff day apart. It was a very productive meeting that led to us crafting our church calendar for the next 12 months. We were inspired by a verse in Colossians 1:29, “This is why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works in me.” We spent a couple of hours doing a deep dive into Colossians 1-2 to clarify the “why” behind the “work” we are planning. This leads to greater missional clarity and helps us to keep the big picture in view. It is going to be a great year of “deepening our roots in Christ so we can thrive spiritually.” Stay tuned for the big calendar reveal later this summer!

3. New summer sermon series begins this Sunday. I will be preaching through the book of 1 John over the next few weeks. Take a few minutes to read the entire letter over the coming days. Or better yet, listen to it on the Bible app in the New Living Translation. The narrator is excellent. It sounds like a 20-minute sermon that is beautiful and poetic. John gives us two main ideas: God is Light and God is Love. This week we will read through chapter 1 and talk about “The Lie We Tell Ourselves.”

See you Sunday for worship and Communion!

Jimmy
