A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR…
Hey everybody! It’s the church’s Super Bowl week. Here are a few things to get you rolling into the thick of Holy Week…
1. Holy Week tells a complete story. Remember that our services this week weave together, one into the other, to tell the fullness of the gospel story: Christ dead, buried, and raised to life. Thursday evening’s Communion service celebrates the Last Supper and Jesus praying in the garden of Gethsemane. It tells us of the surrender that led to the sacrifice. Friday’s service leads us into the depths of the shadows as we witness Jesus crucified, dead, and buried. These are critical movements in the story that enable us to appreciate the victory of Easter morning. What joy and gratitude will fill our worship Sunday if we have made the journey with Christ from passion to resurrection. I hope you will attend all of these services. If you must miss something, please read Mark 14-15 sometime before coming Sunday morning.
2. Plant the seed of an invitation. I hope you have given out your Easter invitation cards this week. Make sure you extend an invitation to a friend, family member, neighbor, or co-worker to join you for one of our Easter services this Sunday. Keep this in mind: if you bring someone new with you on Sunday, we will have visitor bags for them filled with freebies and information about our church. Make sure to tell one of the greeters on Sunday that you have a friend with you, and they will be happy to give them a visitor bag. You can’t miss the greeters. They will be stationed at every door before each service and wearing lanyards that read “Here to help.”
3. “Wonderfully Made: A Theology of the Human Body” – This will be our new sermon series coming May 4th! The culture around us is flooded with messages, some obvious and others less so, telling us what to believe about our human bodies. In this message series, we will explore a Biblical perspective on the human body. We will look at topics such as Why do our bodies matter? What does it mean to be created in the image of God? What does it mean to give our whole lives to God? Who defines our identity as human beings?
I am looking forward to worshiping with you throughout the week!
