A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR…
There is splendid weather on the horizon for the next several days. I hope you take time to enjoy the warm sunshine and appreciate the trees arrayed in all their green luster. Here are three things for your weekend…
1. Our Easter Musical will be this Sunday at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary. This year we will go on a musical journey following the footsteps of Jesus as we look back on the first Holy Week. We will look into the heart of Jesus to see what compelled him to choose the way of the cross. What an amazing love he has for you and me!
There will be a fellowship time in the Worship Center at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and refreshments for you to enjoy before Sunday school at 10:00 a.m. Invite someone to join you this Sunday for a wonderful service of worship to prepare us to journey with Christ through his passion and resurrection.
2. “Nearly three in four non-church-going adults in the U.S. haven’t been personally invited to church in the past year.” This stat hit my inbox this week from Barna. We know the majority of people that visit the church are personally invited by someone they know. These facts mean two things. First, your non-church- going co-workers, friends, and neighbors probably haven’t been invited to church by anyone recently. Let’s change that. We will have invitations for you Sunday to use to invite them to join us on Easter Sunday. Two, we can broadcast all over social media, but the best way to encourage someone to attend church is YOU! Your personal invitation covered in private prayer is so powerful! An invitation by a high school friend changed my life as a teenager and led to a change in my eternal destiny. I need you to plant those seeds of invitation with folks this week so they can receive the life-changing message of Jesus. This is what Jesus expects of us post-resurrection. “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8).
3. Smoothie King is awesome! My go to drink this spring has been the Mangofest smoothie. This drink is refreshing on a warm afternoon, and it has naturally derived caffeine to power me through the second part of my day. I am not sure what the overall health benefits may be, but it is a nice treat that brings me joy. Find your own treat to enjoy when you need a little extra motivation to take on a challenging task.
Sunday is coming, y’all!
