A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR…

I have three things for you this weekend…

1. Healthy snack. I’m always on-again, off-again on my eating habits. My current healthy snack of choice: peanut butter on a chocolate rice cake. This snack is very filling, and I love it! You can add more flavor by cutting up a banana and layer on top of the peanut butter. Yummy!

2. Renewal Series starts Sunday! This is going to be an amazing three days of immersion in the Word of God led by one of the best Bible scholars and teachers in the Wesley tradition. Dr. Joe Dongell will be preaching through the book of Romans. The title of his series is “Transforming Our Minds; Strengthening Our Walk.”

Dr. Dongell will preach Sunday morning at both of our worship services at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. He will preach at a youth-led worship service Sunday night in the Worship Center at 6:00 p.m. And there will be worship on Monday night and again on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday night’s worship service will also include musical guests – The Revelation Quartet.

We would love for you to join us for a special teaching event on Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Worship Center with Dr. Dongell. He will be discussing a few key Wesleyan distinctives that he feels are important to the church today. You can register for this event right here. We will be joined for this session by pastors and laity from our sister congregations in the Mississippi Methodist Connection.

I am pleased to share with you that all of Joe’s messages and teaching will be available on our website for you to enjoy following the renewal series later in the week.

Romans 10:17 says, “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message comes through preaching Christ.”

Who doesn’t need their faith stirred up and their soul renewed? Hearing the Word of God preached with authority and clarity can ignite our faith and lead to change in our lives.

I hope you will join us as we seek revival and renewal through this series with Dr. Dongell.

3. Young Adult Community happenings! The young adult community (20’s-30’s) have launched a new group in the College Hut at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Come check it out! The next young adult gathering has been scheduled for Sunday, February 23rd, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Worship Center. Guest host will be Greg Taylor, former youth pastor at Clinton and current staffer at Timbercreek Camp. There will be food and fellowship and a special activity led by Greg. Childcare will be provided by our staff. It will be a lot of fun and a great way to continue to build community among our church’s young adults. You can register right here.

If you need help finding your community of people here at CMC, let me know!

Blessings!

Jimmy
