A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR…
Hello beautiful and amazing people! I pray everyone survived this week’s frigid temperatures. It appears a little bit of a reprieve is coming our way next week. Praise God! I have a couple of tidbits for you this week.
1. Winter Renewal Series is coming! You will find a lot of helpful information in this week’s voice and on our website regarding our upcoming renewal series with Dr. Joe Dongell from Asbury Theological Seminary. The topic for this year’s series will be “Romans: Transforming our minds…Strengthening our Walk.” The dates are February 16-18. Dr. Dongell will preach in both morning worship services on the 16th. Sunday evening there will be a youth-led worship service in the Worship Center at 6:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday evening services will be at 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
Monday there will be a bonus teaching session with Dr. Dongell from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Worship Center. The theme for this session will be “Key Distinctives for Methodism Today.” This event is being co-sponsored by the Mississippi Methodist Connection and will be attended by laity and clergy from other Methodist congregations around the state. Dinner will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and evening worship will be at 6:00 p.m. Advance registration is required for the teaching session and dinner reservations. You can register through our website by visiting www.cmc-clinton.org/winter-renewal.
This Sunday our congregation is encouraged to begin observance of 21 days of prayer and fasting in preparation for the Winter Renewal Series. Pray for the presence of the Holy Spirit to bless this time by bringing revival and renewal to us. There is a Bible-reading plan on the Bible App that you can use as a daily devotional to guide you through these 21 days. Here is the link to the plan: https://www.bible.com/en/reading-plans/27006. It is titled “21 Days of Fasting and Prayer Devotional: Send Revival.”
2. Young Adult Gathering. I am really excited to share news about this gathering with you! CMC young adults are invited to an evening of fellowship and food on Sunday, February 2nd from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Ricky and Karen Kostal’s house located at 107 Twain Trail, Clinton. Childcare will be provided at the church. We will discuss plans for future gatherings and Sunday morning small-group opportunities. Reach out to Jimmy for more information at [email protected].
I hope to see you Sunday for the “Lego Sermon!”
