MESSAGE FROM JIMMY…

I have a few things that I am excited to share with you today.

1. Here’s what I am listening to right now. Literally, as I write this, I am listening to a new album by Elevation Worship. It is called “When Wind Meets Fire.” Check out this song. Its message relates to our theme this month – “Greater Things Are Coming.”

2. Neighborhood Gatherings are set! I am eager to share these gatherings with you this month. I believe God is up to something in our midst. I can’t wait to share with you a couple of things stirring in my heart and listen to you share your dreams and visions for the future. May the Holy Spirit be poured out upon us this month as we fast, pray, and gather to share your stories with each other.

3. Looking for a study group this semester? I want to recommend Dr. Gary Cockerill’s Wednesday night group this semester. Here is a description of this group.

“The Whole Bible—One Book from Many Books” taught by Gary Cockerill.

Have you ever asked the question, “How does all of this stuff in the Bible fit together?” Or maybe you’ve thought, “Is the Old Testament still important?” This twelve-week course has two goals: (1) To help you get the “big picture” of the Bible as a whole and what it is about. (2) To help you understand how each part of the Bible contributes to this “big picture.” We will be using Christian Faith in the Old Testament: The Bible of the Apostles (Thomas Nelson, 2014) as a resource. This course is highly recommended for Sunday School teachers.

It begins on August 21st in the Worship Center. Sign up today by emailing [email protected] or sign up at our Wednesday night supper next week. We will have books available for purchase.

I hope to see you Sunday as we dive into the second of our core values – Formational Community.

Jimmy
