Winter Renewal Series is coming! You will find a lot of helpful information below regarding our upcoming renewal series with Dr. Joe Dongell from Asbury Theological Seminary. The topic for this year’s series will be “Romans: Transforming our minds…Strengthening our Walk.”
The dates are February 16-18. Dr. Dongell will preach in both morning worship services on the 16th. Sunday evening there will be a youth-led worship service in the Worship Center at 6:00 p.m. On Monday and Tuesday evening services will be at 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. View the schedule below.
Teaching Session:
On Monday February 17th, there will be a bonus teaching session with Dr. Dongell from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Worship Center. The theme for this session will be “Key Distinctives for Methodism Today.” This event is being co-sponsored by the Mississippi Methodist Connection and will be attended by laity and clergy from other Methodist congregations around the state. Dinner in the Family Life Building will be served from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and evening worship will be at 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
Teaching Session – 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Worship Center – Cost is $25 per attending church**
Meal will be served in the Family Life Building from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Cost is $10 per person **

Dr. Joseph R. Dongell
Born into a pastor’s home, Joe was raised near Philadelphia PA, and then in upstate South Carolina. He earned degrees from Southern Wesleyan University (1978), Asbury Theological Seminary (1981), the University of Kentucky (1986), and Union Theological Seminary in Virginia (1991). Joe has served on the faculty of Asbury Theological Seminary since 1988, teaching in the School of Biblical Interpretation. He has written John: A Bible Commentary in the Wesleyan Tradition, and co-written Why I am not a Calvinist. He is an ordained minister in the Wesleyan Church. He and his (late) wife of 40 years, Regina, have two adult children, their spouses, and two granddaughters living nearby. Joe enjoys working in garden and yard, tinkering with old machinery in his shop, and walking. He has also maintained an outreach to atheists, agnostics, and skeptics over the years.
