A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR…
Here are a couple of things to get you rolling into the weekend…
1. Fresh fruit is in season in Mississippi! I shared with you a few weeks ago about my go-to treat – smoothies! Well, I have started blending my own at home and loving it. A church member went to a blueberry orchard in Raymond recently and brought me a bag of the sweetest, bush-ripened berries I’ve had in a long time. I have been making amazing berry smoothies with them. Here is a recipe for you to try.
Very Berry Smoothie Recipe
1 cup of apple juice
1 cup of frozen mixed berries
1 handful of fresh blueberries
1 scoop of protein powder
1 cup of crushed ice
Throw it all in a blender and blend until well mixed. Pour into your Stanley or favorite smoothie cup and enjoy, friends!
I hear there is a strawberry patch in the area where you can pick your own berries. There is also a peach orchard, Banks Farms, in Brandon. They have fresh peaches right now.
2. Keep your church attendance this summer. I know there will be weeks when you and your family are out of town on vacation. We all need time for rest and relaxation. However, when you are home, don’t skip out on church. You need it for your soul, your family, and your marriage. Our attendance was great this past Sunday. The music was great; coffee was great. Talking to a couple of our youth after their Sunday school class I felt like they had a very inspiring lesson with Jacob. I think that is awesome! We had three students visiting with us who are doing internships through MC. It was great to meet these young men. It makes a difference when you are here to greet visitors and join in on Sunday school discussions.
This Sunday we continue our sermon series in the book of 1 John with chapter 3, verses 11-24. I hope you will join us if you are in town. And remember, you can always catch up with us on Facebook or by listening to our church’s podcast on iTunes or wherever you get podcasts. See you Sunday!
