Here are three things for your weekend…
1. CMC Young Adults are gathering Sunday.
Calling all singles and couples 22-40! Something new is happening at CMC! There will be a gathering at Ricky and Karen Kostal’s (107 Twain Trail) this Sunday from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. We will eat some great food, maybe laugh a little, and certainly engage in a bit of “YAC” (young adult conversation) about upcoming happenings at CMC. Childcare will be provided – Who doesn’t need a break from the kiddos? Drop of is at the church beginning at 3:30 p.m. and pick up is by 6:30 p.m. Just bring them to the nursery area on the second floor of the education building (near the Connections worship space). 2. We will celebrate Holy Communion in both services this weekend.
We will offer special Communion-focused services in to both Traditions and Connections on Sunday. Fun fact: Did you know that the Wesley brothers wrote 166 hymns about Communion? We only have about a handful in our hymnal. They were published in 1745 in a hymnal called “Hymns on the Lord’s Supper.” I will be sharing one that I find particularly meaningful with you on Sunday. No, I will not be singing it!
One more fun fact. The Confirmation class will be assisting in setting up and serving Communion for the services. Can’t wait to serve with them!
3. Confirmation Retreat is happening this weekend at CMC.
Our church is hosting a Confirmation retreat this weekend in partnership with the Mississippi Methodist Connection. It is going to be an exciting weekend of worship, learning, and recreation for these students and mentors. I am so proud of these students and can’t wait to share this time with them.
Nikki Parsons, Director of Kid’s Ministry, shares this message with our church family: “While at home this weekend, I encourage you to be in prayer for your Confirmand and the entire group as we are growing in our faith and experiencing God’s love and grace in new and deep ways! Throughout this year, your confirmands have been learning many foundations of faith — at this retreat, they will continue to grow! Please pray that they experience God’s grace and that they are motivated by the Holy Spirit!”
